A beautiful, smart and
educated woman. A dashing, social and popular Union minister. A traditional
wedding, maybe the luck of the third time. What could go wrong?
Something went so
horribly wrong, that the lady in question, Sunanda Tharoor, committed suicide
in her hotel room while her husband, Shashi Tharoor was busy attending a
meeting of the AICC.
What happened? Apparently
she was troubled by some tweets made by Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar, which
indicated that the Union minister was having an affair with her. But hours
before death, she had been replying to tweets regarding this issue and even
gave suggestive updates about the journalist's character. Even a joint
statement by the Tharoors had been issued.
Reports surfaced about
Sunanda's alleged decision of separating from his husband in the wake of the
affair, and some reports even hinted that the couple had a scuffle the night
before. Her last tweet was: "Jo hona hota hain, woh hokey rahega. hastey
huye jayege"(whatever is destined to happen, will happen. Will go
smiling).
It's been more than 8
months since that fateful January night, and investigations are still on with
the recent news being that the investigation will now be closed. Amidst
allegations of Tharoor trying to influence the inquiry process and withholding
information and the investigation now coming to a close, there has been so many
changes. A new government. More cases of assault. Banking scheme for the poor.
Jihadi attacks in the Middle East...
Amidst all these waves of
uproar and silence, will the soul of the dead find justice?
